What Keyboard do I need to buy to start lessons ?
Our Yamaha keyboard course is exactly what it says in the title, a Yamaha course. For that reason we answer the question What Keyboard do I Need to Buy by saying the ideal keyboards to use are any of the Yamaha keyboard/Piano/Workstation range that include the use of the accompanier section .
This function is unique to Yamaha products and using intelligent technology it provides rhythm backing or fully-orchestrated rhythm, bass and chord accompaniment.
Playing the required chords in the left-hand section of the keyboard in the Fingered mode, the Auto Accompaniment will produce an accompaniment matched to the selected style…
Keyboards : 61 Notes
Yamaha PSR-E353 Portable Keyboard – £159 RRP (correct April 2016)
Yamaha PSR-E443 Portable Keyboard – £240 RRP (correct April 2016)
If it is a keyboard you after, any keyboard from the PSR Range will be appropriate
Alternatively you could buy a Digital Piano with 88 Notes (Weighted Keys)
Yamaha DGX-650 Digital Piano – Black – £600 RRP (correct April 2016)
A keyboard is always based on personal preference to your needs as a player. For home practise the lower range PSR models are more than capable of doing the job you need.
As you progress further you may want to upgrade your keyboard to a better model.
I play professionally now and after years of dedication to practise and performing in the UK and abroad I have invested in a Yamaha TYROS 5. This choice has been made due to my personal requirements. As you as a player improve you will want to use better equipment.
