Music Gym is Watford's specialist rock and pop vocal school. Based at the Meriden Community Centre (WD25 9ET), we teach singing to children from age 5 through to adults — from complete beginners who've never sung outside the shower to experienced vocalists working towards Rockschool Grade 8.
Our singing lessons cover rock, pop, and musical theatre repertoire. We focus on technique, confidence, and performance — not just hitting the right notes, but learning how to own a stage.
Aimée is Music Gym's lead vocal and musical theatre teacher. She holds an MA in Musical Theatre and is a qualified Rockschool teacher. Aimée brings real performance experience into every lesson — she knows what it takes to sing with confidence, and she has a gift for drawing out the best in every pupil, whatever their style or experience level.
Parents and pupils regularly single out Aimée in their reviews:
★★★★★"My daughter has been doing singing lessons at Music Gym for nearly 10 years and I cannot praise them enough! She really rates her current teacher Aimee who has helped elevate her singing to the next level, achieving a distinction in a recent Grade 7 exam. Definitely recommend!"
★★★★★"I've been going here for years and I genuinely couldn't recommend it more. Aimee especially really gets me. She's super supportive of my love for musical theatre and never judges my slightly chaotic music taste. What really stands out is how understanding the whole team is with neurodivergent students. I've always felt comfortable here and properly supported."
★★★★★"I also enjoy vocal lessons with Aimee, who is great at exploring the limits of my singing style and range. Overall it has been really good for my wellbeing over the past 10 years."
★★★★★"Music Gym is a fantastic place for my daughter to learn singing and playing keyboard. Her teachers Aimee and Olly are absolutely amazing — very knowledgeable and supportive all the time. My daughter is looking forward to every lesson."
Most singing teachers in Watford specialise in either classical voice or contemporary pop. We cover both rock/pop and musical theatre in one school, with a teacher who is qualified in both. Whether your child wants to belt out Ariana Grande, learn West End numbers, or find their own style — we've got them covered.
Singing is one of the most personal instruments there is. Aimée builds confidence alongside vocal skills — breathing, projection, pitch, tone, and stage presence. Our termly showcase concerts give every pupil the chance to perform live, and for many children it's the moment their confidence clicks.
Music Gym has a strong track record of supporting neurodivergent students. Pupils consistently tell us they feel comfortable and properly supported here. Singing is one of the most accessible instruments for children who learn differently — there's no equipment to manage, no complex finger positions, and the group environment builds social confidence naturally.
We are an accredited Rockschool exam centre. Vocal grades from Debut to Grade 8 carry UCAS points at the higher levels — the same value as grades from ABRSM or Trinity. Our pupils have achieved over 3,000 grade passes across all instruments since 2011.
Group singing lessons run in small groups of up to 5 pupils, so every voice gets heard. For pupils who prefer individual attention or are preparing for higher grades, auditions, or performances, 1-to-1 lessons with Aimée are also available.
In addition to our regular singing lessons, we run a completely free Saturday morning Music Theatre class for ages 5–11. It's a community class where children build confidence through singing, acting, and movement. No experience needed — just turn up.
Our youngest vocalists join a small group (up to 5) where they learn the basics of singing in tune, rhythm, breathing, and performing in front of others. At this age it's about building confidence and a love of music — not pressure. 45-minute lessons, £49.83/month.
Pupils develop their vocal technique — breath control, pitch accuracy, projection, and dynamics — while learning songs they love. They can work towards Rockschool vocal grades when ready. This is also the age group for our free Saturday Music Theatre class. 60-minute lessons, £89.38/month.
Teenagers often come to us wanting to develop their own vocal style, prepare for school performances, or work towards grades for UCAS points. Aimée works with each student on their individual goals — whether that's pop, musical theatre, or songwriting. Group or 1-to-1 options available.
Adult singing lessons are available as 1-to-1 sessions with Aimée. Whether you've always wanted to sing but never had the confidence, you're returning after years away, or you want to push your voice further — lessons are relaxed, structured, and built around your voice and your goals. £128.12/month.
