Music for every kind of mind

At Music Gym, we've always believed that music is for everyone — not just kids who sit still, follow instructions perfectly, or learn the same way as everyone else.

Over the years we've taught hundreds of students, and some of our most passionate, creative musicians have been children and young adults who struggled elsewhere — students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, anxiety, learning disabilities and other additional needs. Music Gym has become a place where that's not a problem. It's often an advantage.

How we teach differently

There's no single way to learn an instrument, and we don't pretend there is. Our teachers naturally adapt — adjusting pace, structure, communication style and teaching methods to suit the individual, not the other way around.

We also don't judge musical taste. Classical, musical theatre, metal, pop, video game music — if it lights your child up, we'll work with it. Engagement is everything.

"I've always felt comfortable here and properly supported. The teachers are so understanding with neurodivergent students — they really get it."

— Rory, Music Gym student

Group lessons or one-to-one — which is right?

Many of our students with milder additional needs — including ADHD and autism — thrive in our small group lessons alongside other children. The social side of it is often part of what makes it work. We gently integrate and support where needed, and most of the time it goes brilliantly.

For students with more complex additional needs, a one-to-one lesson is usually the better starting point. It gives the teacher time to properly understand your child, build trust, and work at exactly the right pace. We have students with significant learning disabilities who have been coming to Music Gym for years — and for them and their families, those lessons have become something genuinely special.

Not sure which route is right? Just call us. We'll have an honest conversation, and between us we'll figure out the best fit. There's no pressure either way.
