Max Wins a Yamaha Guitar at Music Gym's 15th Anniversary Concert

This year, Music Gym turns 15. To mark the occasion, we held a special Pupils Concert — a chance for our students to take to the stage, perform in front of a real audience, and celebrate everything they've worked so hard to achieve.

It was an incredible evening. But one moment in particular stood out.

The Concert, the Raffle, and a Very Lucky Grandmother

Max is one of our Yamaha Grade 2 guitarists. He performed at the concert that evening — up on stage, under the lights, in front of a packed room. He was brilliant.

After the performances, we held a raffle. The prize? A brand new Yamaha Pacifica 112 electric guitar, kindly donated by Yamaha Music.

Max's grandmother had bought a raffle ticket.

A few days after the concert, we did the draw.

Max won.

The student who had just performed on stage at our anniversary concert walked away with his first full-sized electric guitar. It's the kind of moment you couldn't script.

15 Years of Music Gym

Music Gym has been part of the Watford community for 15 years. In that time we've taught hundreds of students — from complete beginners picking up an instrument for the first time, to young musicians performing on stage, passing Rockschool grades, and earning places at some of the best schools in Hertfordshire.

Max's story is a perfect example of what happens when a child finds their instrument, sticks with it, and gets the chance to shine. Here's to the next 15 years. 🎸
